Correct Sowing Depth Matters
#1
Planting a germinated seed too deep is one of the quieter reasons seedlings never appear. A depth of roughly one centimetre, with the taproot pointing down, gives the sprout enough cover without exhausting its energy before it reaches light. The planting instructions that came with my order from https://budweedseeds.com recommend about the same depth, which reassured me after losing two seeds buried far too low. Firming the soil gently rather than pressing hard also seemed to help.
